Branding Process

Our brand identity design process varies by client and project requirement, but generally includes the following steps:

1 - Research and Competitive Audit

We practice armchair psychology. Identity design starts by exploring who you are, how you are positioned in a market, and what motivates your target audience. We try to consider all those factors, then explore options that best meet all the business objectives in a distinct way.

2 - explore New Brand identity / Logo Design

Based on business objectives and competitors, we explore a range of logo options. This step serves to eliminate poor solutions, and provides high fidelity mock-ups for business review and user testing.

3 - final Design Direction

Based on client feedback and/or user testing, we design the final logo, business card and stationery, which helps cement much of the brand identity. For some clients, this is the final step.

4 - Brand Extension

For many clients, we use the established identity to extend the new or revitalized brand into collateral, web, sales materials and environments. We typically oversee design all the way through production, which may include working with web developers, advertisers, printers, or packaging manufacturers, providing press ready digital artwork to the various vendors. We typically prepare digital files specific to production requirements.

5 - Brand Standards Manual

As a final deliverable, we frequently create a brand standards manual which outlines standard usage for the newly established brand. Frequently, this design guide will include digital design templates that enable the client to pick up day to day production in-house.
